I recently removed the gas tank on my 83 FJ60 since the truck was having fuel delivery issues. I cleaned out the tank and coated it with POR-15. It has cured for 24 (of the suggested 96) hours already and I wanted to check that the gas tank vents were clear, so a used a small rod to check the vents…

The three in the middle are clear and I can slide in the rod with no issues, the far left one and the far right one the rod stops at the length of the “nipple”. Is this the way it should be? I don’t want to force/break anything inside the tank.

Thanks

I had pieces of a latex glove in July of ‘24 along with rust, a piece of this glove tore through the gas sender pickup filter and plugged up the supply line… thought everything was good back then, but I kept having fuel delivery issues, this week I pulled off the gas tank again cause I was gonna seal it with POR-15 and I found the remaining top part of the latex glove…

Anybody have an old gas tank that’s off the truck and just sitting around that could check this for me?

Thank you
