What is this? Where is the freespool knob?

looks like it is a 8074, it is the predecessor of the 8274. the 8074 did not have a free spool lever, just power in and power out.

Think 300 bucks is too much for one in good working shape? Guy who's selling it claims he talked to warn, and that it was an early 8274 and would be easy to convert to a freespool model...

yes.. althought IMHO it'll cost too much to add the freespool. You'll need the whole upper case and parts. IMHO i hardly ever use the free spool on my other 8274. Just buy it and use it as is.
