82 diesel timing belt

My ( T lite) came on last nite .I pulled the eng covers off to replace the belt. The old belt looks good ,no wear or fray. My question ,where is the sensor that caused the lite to come on?:whoops:

My guess is it's a mileage thing.... I'm not too familiar with the diesels though... Welcome to Mud! Glad to have you and your diesel!

Its a 1982 the speedo says 178,00.The belt I pulled looks good and was not loose ,the bearing in the tensioner are good. cecil

not sure about the 1982,usually Tbelt require changing at 100k or 5 years,someone may have changed the belt at 78,000km and reset the speedo.

Well put on a newtiming belt and tensioner and fired her up running good. So now does anyone know how to reset the lite? cecil

You'll need to remove the Grommet from the Dash so you can gain access to the Dash Facia, then you have to find something that'll fit through there to press the button.

thanks a lot for the info that did the trick. I could not find the answer in any toyota manual I looked in and the dealer in this town did not know.Let me know if I can ever be of any helpto you . cecil
