Well hopefully getting the motor installed tommorow. I'm not sure how the igniter wiring for the '81 hooks up to my 73 FJ40. Is it pretty straight forward? Is there anything I need to look out for. I just don't want to burn something up after all that work.

so you are putting a 81 2f with elec ignition in your 73?

are you using the gear reduction starter?

from memory, just wire the new coil/ignitor up like before

you will leave the wire off the coil/ign that went from the starter to by-pass the ballast when 1st starting. Other than that its the same.....I think

why not the GR starter? it bolts right up? but if you use the old starter, leave the other wire off that goes directly to the coil, its not needed now.

Yes I am using the '73 starter and the '81 distributor. And yes the schematic will help. Thank you both.

Well I'm going to wire the igniter up today. It looks like one wire to the ignition switch, one to the coil, one to the distributor and one to the ground. Sound right?
