you've got a good 3FE. 14 mpg is pretty good for a 3FE doing 70 mph! and doing 70 mph steady on anything but a flat interstate is pretty good for a 3FE!

is this a JDM or north american 80?

if the seats are manual the leather is definitely not factory, but dealer or regional office added. sounds like they did a nice job. there were no lexus 80 series until the lx450 in 1996, but when the 80 came in for the 1991 model year dealers started adding options like leather to get them off the lot given the high sticker price, and toyota eventually responded by adding leather and a fancier interior in 1993 at which point cloth seats became extremely rare. toyota originally packaged the 80 in north america just like the 60 as a plain utilitarian vehicle (in 1991 there was a steel wheel no fender flare, no sunroof base version that appears to have sold almost no units) and left out a options on all models like lockers and full floater disc brake rears available in japan to keep the price down. the price was still too high so they had to turn it into a luxury vehicle and jack the price up. if it is north american your 91 would originally have had checked pattern cloth seats with vinyl sides.

Interesting...

My 91 leather is soo factory looking it's amazing. I will have to post some pics on here for you tonight.
It is from Washington, it's whole life until 2002 it came to Vancouver. I searched the car fax for it.

It has power windows, locks, sunroof, 3rd row etc. All leather. Woodgrain dash and trim.

Did the 80's have the data plate on the firewall that describe the vehicle like my 60 does? Cause this one is missing it. It has the vin on the dash behind the windshield though.

It's the nicest 91 anything I have come across. There is next to nill rust on it. The frame is clean too. That is why I thought it would make a real sweet 1HZ-turbo/Auto combo for the wife.

So 14 mpg imperial gallons is pretty good then? Its 11 ish US gallons. And it does 70 to 80 mph with not too much work.

It has KandN airfilter and some really octopus headers on it too.

It's a little slow around 40-60 mph, but after that it can really start to move. Off the bottom it rips right up to about 30 mph with no problem.

It easily will hold 70 on cruise. Only the biggest hills between Van and Smithers would kick it off. But I never drove the coq either. I drove the 99.

there were a lot of aftermarket leather conversion kits for these trucks. you can still get some of them and they look factory.

the data plate is a sticker on the driver door but it would not tell you the interior spec.
A US toyota dealer can also pull a copy of the original dealer invoice for the truck but you have to ask nicely.

we had a 91 for a while that previously lived in burlington washington it's whole life. maintained by an aircraft mechanic owner no less. super clean body. It had some blow by but otherwise ran well. Best it ever got was 15 mpg and that was 60 mph flat highway stuff. it would go 70 mph flat but pretty much any hill would knock it back.

15 mpg US or IMP?

15 mpg US is acceptable.

But driving in BC is generally always going to be hilly.

I'll post some pics of the interior. Even the doors look super stock with leather. Good kit for sure.

15 mpg imperial I am afraid but your mileage may vary :D. the most the 93 has ever gotten is 20 mpg imperial on flat 70 mph highway cruising but usually around 17 mpg on bc highways.

So I'm not far off then.

I'll tune it the best I can, make sure the 02 sensors are new, filters clean. Plugs replaced etc.

MY BJ60 you can beat on, foot to the floor on the highway driving it to the max and still get above 20. But it is slow.

Hope you enjoy the 80. My wife loves our 94. We love the factory cloth seats. I know they are harder to clean, but I've always hated the cold of leather in winter and the hot leather in summer. If you know of anyone interested in a 96 80 series fully loaded you know who to contact. It was one of the 'grey' market 80's. It was brought in from the US by Toyota Canada as a new vehicle so all the paper work history is Canadian. Owner will be asking around $13,000 CDN
