I wonder if you could use one from a T-100 or Tacoma and retrofit it onto the 80? Looks like FIA has parts for those models.

Or maybe make your own using heater insulation and cover it with some fabric?
 
I always thought these were a way for the dealer/accessories side to make some more cash. Any feedback on its effectiveness?
 
When my HDJ81 is at idle in snowy winter gridlock at like 5 degrees F, the diesel cools down to the point where the air it blows is barely warm.

It definitely makes a difference.
 
The 1HD-T's run cool for sure. My 1st truck had the "Snow Package", which included the factory roll down winter front in front of the rad. On my new truck I used some plastic sign board which seemed to work pretty well. No winter front = no heat on these trucks.
