Mine does this now and I don't remember it doing it before, but it's not too bad

I have tried flushes and new Type-IV ATF with friction additives. Some of these additives made a little improvement, but nothing resolved the issue. Before going through all of that, check the cruise control actuator, when failing it can cause hesitation in OD engagement. Just unplug the cruise control actuator, if the hesitation stops you found it. then replace it.

Update - I added more fluid and it seems fine now
