I have a 80 series and the driver side of the sunroof is more down than the left side, it won’t raise on that side as well. I tried fiddling with it and trying to reset the factory settings, which means I only held the button for 15 seconds and didn’t do crap. I’m trying to figure it out so rain doesn’t get inside and start making everything rusty. I attached a photo maybe someone can help..

Might be that one of the cables broke. You can remove the switch cover/controller and there is a slot you can move the sunroof back and forth. I tried with no luck and used Gorilla tape to seal off the sunroof.

Mine did the same last year the cable broke, I purchase a new track and cable for both sides. wasn't hard to replace , had to remove the headliner to do it.I think I found them Amayama

I didn’t even know there was a cable in there because I didn’t see anything. Is there a way I could try to manually pop it back into place until I can get the right part? I don’t want any water going in there.

I tried to order a cable, mind as well replace both of them, but they discontinued that part and they discontinued the motor as the motor is extremely slow now opening and closing I believe I can manually open it and close it. Do you know if Amayama is legit? They are closed until the 5th. do you know where I can rebuild the motor?

Did the dealer say it was discontinued, because I looked and they have them a 600 up.That ,does not mean after you order it they won't come back and say its unavailable. Keep in mind that's for the left side. Make sure you get the side you want, I ended up replacing them both. Amayama is a good company. But you have to purchase through paypal. They wont charge you until they are sure they can get the part.

When I contacted cruiser outfitters, they told me they couldn’t get the part anymore, also it was discontinued,

I also have a problem with the hood shaking when I’m on the interstate and I’m trying to fix that as well

Most Japanese companies close for an extended new year holiday. Quite a few people have ordered from them over the years. I have not personally because typically I can find better deals on Partsouq. They have their own extended holidays that sometimes have to be worked around. 😅

I think you can feel comfortable ordering from either though. Sometimes I've had partsouq parts arrive faster than Amazon.

Likely this is because the hoods frame is unglued from the skin. Take the fire blanket/insulation off. Then reglue it with PL Urethane construction adhesive. You can pick it up at lowes/home depot/etc. I just put it on the hood and closed it. Some people put it on, then half close the hood on a couple of 2x4s to force the frame up against the skin. Mine is fine, look up some threads and get some ideas.

I highly recommend this to reattach the hood.

Thanks

I read a form where it could be the latch where you have to adjust it, or you have to get some plastic pieces that attach underneath the edge of the hood. I definitely have to get a replacement hood insulator. Mine is thrashed. What does the PL urethane do? That would fix the hood shake when I’m driving on the interstate?

It could be an adjustment. But what causes it 9/10 times is the skin is loose. You can test this by just pushing on parts of the hood or pull it your insulator and see if the frame is disconnected from the skin. RivMan suggested a different option that might be better. He is very thorough so I'd trust him and I didn't know about that product.

I just know the PL urethane was easy to get and it worked. It's essentially industrial strength glue to reattach the frame and make it not floppy in the wind anymore.

Oh, OK. I understand. Well, I will definitely trust your judgment on that. I just ordered what @RivMan recommend to buy on Amazon.

The reason I went with a more flexible adhesive is that the hood skin and frame will expand at different rates when they get hot. The parts naturally want to move in relation to each other as they heat and cool. The hood is especially prone to this. Thats what caused the factory glue to fail.

The anti-vibration adhesive allows for that movement, while still keeping the skin secured to the frame.
