Posted this in the for sale section but thougth i'd try here also

This an 80 series storage rack that came with the truck when I bought it.
Used it a few times camping before I had to move from los angeles to north carolina. Couldn't take it with me as the cruiser was filled to the gills with large boxes.

Works great. It attaches to the 3rd row seat mounting hardware.
Is in the canyon country/valencia area at my mom's house. Cannot really ship as i'm on the other side of the country and she has no way to transport it.
I really don't know how much it is worth but i'll start out saying $150 OBO. pick up only unless I can find a way around it.

Sorry couldn't find a pic of it in my cruiser. I'll try to contact the PO to see if he has any.

Can have it rattle canned for the right price.

Thanks, it worked really well when I used it for the runs to pismo and glamis. I'm just building a rack that I can sleep on for the 80 now and the shipping cost to get it to me would kinda kill it also.

I forgot I will take trades, mostly looking for 80 series parts (rear end rebuild kit for a FF rear)
But let me know what ya got. :grinpimp:

I would love to see your design for the new rack you're building.

Haven't decided on one yet. I was leaning towards the more traditional wood storage drawer system, but I might make one like this in segments to put an air mattress on and still have the cool factor of this one.

I did not build this one that I am selling though. I have zero fab skills when it comes to metal but i'm starting to learn. :grinpimp:

Call me cynical, but $150 w/rust is a little optimistic.

Very cool for the right guy though.

Just my 2cents. Dan.

I saw a thread on here recently. Someone was going to build a combo platform/cargo barrier that changes back and forth from one to the other. I kinda like that idea. His idea was to bolt it into one position, then the other.

I think it would be cool to come up with a design that pivots up on some kind of hinges, then locks into position with some kind of latch or snap thingy's.

So when it's down for sleeping, the platform is obviously the length of the entire cargo area with the 2nd row seats folded down. It extends from the tailgate to the back of the front seats. For travel, the front half of the platform swivels up at the mid-point, becoming the barrier.

Make it out of the same type of construction as your rack; expanded metal and 1" square tube. High enough off the floor to have plenty of storage underneath with either Rubbermaid storage containers or custom-built drawers. Or a combo of both. Bolted to the floor, and easy enough to tie down the fridge to while traveling.

It's just a little surface rust and can easily be scuffed off and repainted which I said I would have done if needed.
I also said OBO

it might of been mine, see sig line below.......

problem with the idea you have on having the barrier portion on a hinge is there is no way to have it lay flat on top of the 2nd row seats and make it comfortable. The barrier portion would sit up at an angle way too much. If the 2nd row was rolled forward then maybe but then the sleeping area is shorter. I thought the best solution was to have the barrier come out completely with 4 hand screws and that is what the wagonracks product does. If the 2nd row seats are out then it is entirely possible, would just have to figure out how to tie the barrier into the floor when it is laid flat.
