Hey Guys,

I've only maybe driven 20 miles on this kit, it was mainly used for mock up to see if I could hang a Y link off the tops of a Slee HiSteer kit.

After looking it over a thousand ways from Sunday I've gone another direction with my HiSteer and don't need this.

Why buy this vs. one from RS? Well if you don't have a welder, this is all ready to go. Rods are cut to length and bungs are welded in place. All that you need to complete the kit in the lower drivers (right side) arm as shown here: http://sleeoffroad.com/products/products_steering_main.htm

This kit will allow you to move the steering to the front side of the axe, lots of benefits to the upgrade discussed here:https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/a-real-steering-upgrade-y-link-1-ton-tres.789898/

I'm asking to get out what the kit costs $240 plus shipping, my loss is the welding and fab cost -$100 is your gain.

I will include a new Y link TRE, since I did modify this one when i was mocking things up.

These are some seriously beefy rods, 1.5" OD 1/4" wall HEAVY DUTY upgrade.

Again if you don't have the fab skills to cut, mock and weld this kit your self this is plug and play. I will also include the inserts so you don't have to ream your arms, just drill out to 7/8"

$240 + shipping UPS ground can't be that much

I should also mention this is a great way to get your steering up front with out going hi steer... This opens up the back of the axel for 3 link options...

Would work just the same on a build that is using an 80 front axle.

Hard to say, I've been running Heims for the last 7 yrs on my rig. Going to TRE's felt more "firm" but can't compare that off a stock set up, as I ditched it years ago.

I'd imagine it would feel mostly the same, I've heard the only real "feeling change" is due to the nature of the geometry is different.

In other words it feels totally normal to anyone who has a Y / T link stock set up. Old Ford Broncos ect...

So from that perspective yes it may feel different. But so does a lift kit, bigger tires, new stereo...

So I was asked what's the main benefit to this type of steering in a PM. Figured it might help answer some questions:


So what does this do for you... Well as you mentioned its beefy. That's an understatement. Years ago when I ran the stock set up I went out wheeling and bent the relay rod. That's the one on the back of the axel. I should say I destroyed it, cause it blew the TRE apart. I was dead in the water. Couldn't even drive the truck, never again would I let that happen I vowed. So I upgraded to a heim set up. Still in the stock location but with heavier rod. Easy to service on the trail.

This is the next step in that thought process. The rods are 1 1/2" thick with 1/4" wall. You could practically rest you rig on them. Additional by moving the rear rod to the front, your spotter should keep them high and dry so they are out of harms way. The natural design of the lower Toyota arms sits the front side a tad higher then the rear. So you also gain about an 1" or more on the relay. Plus the TRE's are GM 1 Ton. Much more HD then the stock Toyota ones.

Really it gives you some peace of mind that rods won't strand you on the trail... Moves them where they can be seen, frees up space on the back of the axel for a 3 link, give you the ability to run hydro assist steering on the front of the axel ect...

You can use the Y Link TRE I have with the supplied insert or buy a new one, that up to you.
