It's actually my personal protection device. It holds all of my old receipts, dead credit cards and gift cards, pictures of old girlfriends...If someone threatens my safety...I'll throw it at them.

This is why I'm NOT going to spot weld the new tumbler carrier. Spot welding just can't hold up to just two blows from a framing hammer. This needs to be stitch welded. This also means the lock MUST be just under the lid. Being proud of the lid gives it a better change to focus energy on the lock itself instead of distributing the force of the blow along the entire lid.
I also tested the hinge's spot welds against the same framing hammer. This isn't an accurate test since the lid is mechanically locked into place by the sides of the LockBox but I tested anyway. 3 second spot welds failed after three strikes. 5 second spot welds held perfectly after 14 hammer strikes.
The take home, you're not going to get deep penetration with 3 seconds.

Well, it's two-fold. I get to take my frustration out on the source of my anger and I get to beat on my vise a little.
But, it means I need to pay for the welder instead of spot welding myself. Ugh. Oh well.

About $250. Most of the low end Yost are now being made in China. I wanted US made with US steel so I grabbed this model.
Flea market! I found a 100 y/o 12" vice the other day at my local flea market, pulled my buddy out to make sure
, but had to pass it up. Other than that not too much good stuff around me. With all the machine work around you you're bound to find an awesome one tomorrow morning. I got a lot of my tools at flea markets out there back in the day. Really great stuff - like Klein, etc. No coast like the west coast

My last company, we got five Bridgeport mills and two lathes this way. By. The. Pound.
Of course we paid through the nose for the tooling but
