False alarm After some checking I you must be a full time residence and apply for a permit. Then it is a lottery draw only 150 per year. So basically no beach driving unless you got luck and want to move.

Go to Texas. Their are lots of beaches you can drive. You don't need a built truck, I did it with a Ford Focus on Padre Island near Harlingen TX. I was the only gringo on the beach.

As a native Floridian, Grayton Beach is my favorite place in all of FL but it is slowly being changed as the smaller old beach cottages are replaced with Mansions.
