My front differential housing has a dent, I'm gearing it and I have the differential apart. Tried to pound it out with no good result. Any good recommendations on how to pound out the dent?

How is it supported when you're hitting it? You'll need someone to hold a 10 pound sledge up against the back side as an anvil.
If you have access to an oxy/accetalyne torch you could heat it and and the dent will move easily.

The housing looks really wet. I assume it was from dropping out the third member. And not cracked..

I say clean it really good and apply just enough heat to tap it out with a copper or brass tool. NOTHING POINTED OR SHARP. Try not to use steel. After you do one round of heating and LIGHT hammering. Let it cool completely to air temp before you heat again so you can focus on the areas that need it the most. Think one inch at a time..

After it’s pushed out make sure you clean all the slag and carbon out..
