Changed the gear oil on the front diff, but what came out was knuckle grease...so the question (Since I'm a little short this month $$$) can I still drive the rig for a while..a month or so with the axle seals leaking? :meh:

On 40 or 60 you could get away with it. I'm not so sure the 80 will like that, your a full time 4wd so the birfields turning all the time.

Also consider how long you might have been driving it with poorly lubricated birfs.

If you can get by without the truck for a while I'd park it or keep on the light duty list.

Yeah I would recommend parking it if you can. If you are a little short on money now you will be really short on money when you have to replace clicking birfields!

Check Marlin out when you get ready to do the axle service LINK;

Knuckle Gasket & Seal Kit | Marlin Crawler, Inc.

$60 is pretty reasonable, and it includes the high zoot Marlin axle seals.

Since the club owns the SST it might be a good idea to check your knuckles to make sure they are centered while you have the axle torn down. Centered Birfields will extend the life of the axle seals.

Ordered the rebuild kit today from Cruiser Dan, (Used the Plastic $$) if the parts come in this next week I'll try the rebuild next weekend. From the posts this looks like a two day job to do it right and since it's my first time I think I'll take it slow.

One tool I cannot seem to fine is a brass drift.

harbor freight has the larger brass drifts for the cones. One big wack and they pop right out!
