78 running rich Carb setup???

it idled a little dribbling some fuel down so i decided to pull the carb and make sure everything was clean.....and there was the crack in the intake.

spent til bout 1am fixin the intake and we'll see what happens tomorrow. crack was about 2 inches long straight through the bottom. that explains the huge vacuum leak i suppose. i'll keep it posted

All back together, did some fine tuning on the carb and it runs perfect, first time in 4 years its been turn key. Can't wait to finally be driving my first 40 on the road soon! thanks for the help fellas

That's a lot of work for just "running rich".

So how did you fix the cracked intake?

i took it all off and was able to grind it clean all around on both sides then cut into the crack a little with a dremel and seal it with JB Weld. So far its holding up well.

Yea, it ended up having a lot of problems hiding behind the scenes, but it looks like everything is pretty much buttoned up now.
