Hi,

Anyone know where I can get the pivots for my 77FJ55 windshield wipers? I live in Seattle...nuff said. (sorry if I posted this in the wrong spot)

Only thing I know of is are some the onlines like SOR, Cruiser parts and the like.

On a related note, how much should I expect the motors to suck on these things? It seems like my wipers are struggling to even wipe, does this mean the motor is out or just windshield wiper technology has come a long way in 35+ years?

i've got one pivot with the linkage from a 79, but that's it. $10 and i'll ship it to ya...if you're interested, just pm me.

They arent going to win a sprint, thats for sure, but one day I decided to get after the fact that mine were just not safe in all honesty...

Its a long day worth of work, but they work very well now, to the point that I rarely ever use hi speed, although it rarely rains here. Hi speed will keep up with a good down pour, not the heaviest s*** though.( BTW I did grow up on the east coast so I am not talking about the west coast mist that some folks out here think is a down pour)

what you are going to have to do is remove the pivots, the linkage and the wiper motor, clean out the clay like ancient grease, lube the stuff with fresh fairly thin grease(not wheel bearing grease-white lithium in a squeeze tube works well-the spray junk sucks)and reassemble.

I tore the wiper motor down too, and while the grease was caked beyond belief, I did not need new brushes, but some might. Dont bother trying to find the correct size, just sand some cheap ones down to the correct dimensions and install. I looked hi and low to find the correct size ones, and no luck.

Hey nuclearlemon I sent you a PM...didja get it?

So? I sent a piece...Didja get it? was it the right one? Is it gonna work?

I got the part all swaddled and down for a nap in its crib right now. On Sunday I plan to shake it awake and put that baby to work. Thanks again!

Back from the dead!! So brett (or anyone really), how do you remove the pivots? I've got a motor that I'm going to bench rebuild, however in trying to remove it (ahem) from the donor, after staring and beating on it like a monkey, the bolt cutters won out in clipping the linkage.

So I'm going to need to know how to actually disconnect them in a manner that they will be able to be reconnected when I go to put this other motor into my pig.

Clear as mud?

I was the monkey, you were the smart one with the tool using your opposable thumbs :D

monkeys have oposable thumbs too dont they?? :zilla:
