folks had mentioned never having seen the metal bases. here's a pic of a metal base next to a plastic (yes, the plastic is a bit deformed from tightening it down too soon after welding up the fender).
the base grommet that goes with the metal is specific to the metal bases and has blocks incorperated to match the cutouts on the base itself. it is marked with the teq logo on the rubber base and the metal portion is marked with the side on the top.
also posting pics of the prototype resto bases. test fitting was tonight. the square cut for the shaft needs to be clearanced a touch for the "dimpling" that toyota puts on the shaft to keep the bases from coming off, but i want a tight fit. i sent the email off to the cad man and we'll see what happens. hopefully they'll be available soon. the prototype is based off a plastic base.
