First time spraying paint in 20 years. I must say, these EPA compliant single stage paint formulas suck. I should have gone 2 stage but needed matching tint for the Raptor Liner and this was the simplest route.

Great thread. Excited to see this rig in person soon!

I moved the rear axle back about 3.5 inches., in these photos. Final will be 2.5 inches back from factory. I set the tub to see where the wheel arch needs to be. Some adjustment was necessary.

Did you consider extending the tub like Proffit does? I kinda like the idea of that, and think I'll do it after I drive Uglina into the ground and she needs another restoration. ;)

I think Proffitt's usually does what I did. They may have extended the tub on a couple of builds, but it makes fitting the hard top problematic.

Had to cut the rear spring perches off and reset the pinion angle. Not much to see there. I did receive my Dakota Digital cluster and shift placard.

I fabricated a low lockout bracket and modified the t-case shifter to work with the NV4500 5 speed gearbox. Powder coated and installed.

I powder coated some more parts and installed them. You may have seen my thread on nickel plating the p-brake ratchet shaft.

This is how the axle / wheel arch mod turned out.

Subscribed. I’m glad you linked your build in someone’s thread in the 40 section. I didn’t know it existed. Nice work. I’ve never seen a plastic truck intake manifold look that nice.

I’m running a Nv4500 in my 73 and have a L33 5.3 sitting on a stand waiting to go in whenever I’m ready to ditch the carb converted TBI engine I put in temporarily.

Thanks. I don't like the Vortex plastic cover thing and aftermarket intakes seem to be a step backward. I always knew I'd be doing a full frame off. My lovely wife just wanted me to "fix" it. She rolls her eyes that it's going to be a show car. I've heard great things about having overdrive and the power to actually take advantage of it. Getting excited to be done. Working on brake lines and the spaghetti system. An6 fuel lines on the way.

Not much going on. Moving snow pretty much full time on my property for the past two weeks. Mounted up the AC compressor to see where I can mount the battery. I finally comitted to leaving the tub on the frame, so I did install the Energy poly body mounts. Started bending new brake lines, as well.

I love that trans. I look forward to using it with significantly more HP

I recommend adding the oil fill neck. Even in my larger engine bay of my LS swapped 80 series it was much needed. There’s a tall and short version.

I did a minor refurb on the 31 year old Momo steering wheel that came on my rig when I bought it. Best that I could research, it came from a 90's Jaguar. The wood rim was starting to crack and I didn't much like it. I repaired the cracks and painted the parts that would be exposed from a leather wrap. I think it's much better now.

TKS, I have the filler neck you show. I took it off to fit the compressor and have not even checked if it will fit back on, but I will.

They are kind of a pain in the neck once they’re removed… they don’t really go back on very secure or at all. If that turns out to be the case for you grab a new Dorman brand one.

I've electroplated other stuff. I am set up for zinc, copper, and nickel plating for small parts. Just did some clips that had surface rust on them.

I keep chipping away at it. Finished a diet of the body harness. Installed the front half in the cowl and mounted the three OEM switches I retained. A friend is milling a new switch panel that will go in place of the factory radio. It will have the seat heater switches and the Vintage Air control knobs on it. All brake lines are done and the power steering hoses hooked up. I have a slow weep leak from the banjo fitting at the clutch slave. I think the copper washer isn't sealing.

Made some headway. I got the A/C condenser mounted, blasted and powder coated the grill, radiator mounts made, fan shroud, battery tray fabricated, and a control panel for the Vintage Air finished. The radiator outlet had a weird inward angle. I had to cut it off and weld it back on.
