I moved the rear axle back about 3.5 inches., in these photos. Final will be 2.5 inches back from factory. I set the tub to see where the wheel arch needs to be. Some adjustment was necessary.

I think Proffitt's usually does what I did. They may have extended the tub on a couple of builds, but it makes fitting the hard top problematic.Great thread. Excited to see this rig in person soon!
Did you consider extending the tub like Proffit does? I kinda like the idea of that, and think I'll do it after I drive Uglina into the ground and she needs another restoration.
Thanks. I don't like the Vortex plastic cover thing and aftermarket intakes seem to be a step backward. I always knew I'd be doing a full frame off. My lovely wife just wanted me to "fix" it. She rolls her eyes that it's going to be a show car. I've heard great things about having overdrive and the power to actually take advantage of it. Getting excited to be done. Working on brake lines and the spaghetti system. An6 fuel lines on the way.Subscribed. I’m glad you linked your build in someone’s thread in the 40 section. I didn’t know it existed. Nice work. I’ve never seen a plastic truck intake manifold look that nice.
I’m running a Nv4500 in my 73 and have a L33 5.3 sitting on a stand waiting to go in whenever I’m ready to ditch the carb converted TBI engine I put in temporarily.
I love that trans. I look forward to using it with significantly more HPThanks. I don't like the Vortex plastic cover thing and aftermarket intakes seem to be a step backward. TKS, I have the filler neck you show. I took it off to fit the compressor and have not even checked if it will fit back on, but I will.I recommend adding the oil fill neck. Even in my larger engine bay of my LS swapped 80 series it was much needed. There’s a tall and short version.

They are kind of a pain in the neck once they’re removed… they don’t really go back on very secure or at all. If that turns out to be the case for you grab a new Dorman brand one.TKS, I have the filler neck you show.
