I have seen these Cruisers and I would strongly recommend detailed photos of the body work that has been completed before even considering a road trip . Al was an entertaining guy , certainly not a "Cruiser Shark". His idea of "the diffiuclt work being done" was suprising to say the least. The CL photos just doesn't do it justice. The entire back 1/2 of the tub was pop-riveted sheet metal. Yes , pop-rivets......hundreds of them.
I too was lured in by the thought of a great project at a reasonable cost. I fully expected to haul this load away after speaking with Al by phone. Within minutes I changed gears to what parts could be worth. I ended up leaving without even asking many questions. I listened to Al ramble while taking inventory. I couldn't even justify 1K to parts. Parts vehicle itself was worthless....not even a knob could be salvaged ......worth its weight in rust. Sounded like a project he inherited and he thinks he has what we all are looking for.......
Proceed with caution.
I pass through this area occasionally if anyone needs 3rd party input (and isn't in a hurry). PM me if needed.
Sorry I couldn't chime in sooner but I don't get much Mud time these days .
