Well I was just outside groggy and tired, went to put a ladder in my truck and smashed my own windsheild... after some choice words, and thinking how I just learned the hard way how brittle the glass is....

I'm thinking about replacement, and was wondering what to do...

can you get plexy glass windsheilds? are they legal?
should I get a new OEM one from Toyota? i'll have to get a new rubber sill anyway...

what do you guys think?

thanks for any help and/or advice..

You wouldn't want plexiglass because it would scratch in the first week. Some guys use Lexan for buggies but it costs nearly what a new glass w/s does. It's perfect of you are rolling over all the time but probally no advantage on the street. Nothing by laminated glass with the ASI? marking is legal.

Ens occasionally has takout windshields that will fit your truck at a good price. I don't know if they'll ship though.

I spoke w ens about a month ago for a new windsheild.....take-out was same price as glass from dealership. It did come with the rubber moulding though. BTW, the rubber moulding they sold me seperately does not require the chrome locking strips.

How much do they want for a 73/74 series windshield?

Dealer price.

They haven't had fold down window surplus in ten years. I bought one from the dealer recently for $300 cdn, my cost.

eric try your local toyota. Many prices for odd things the canadian dealers are cheaper than the us dealers. Something to do that it was sold in Canada.
