Hi guys,
I'm wondering if its possible to exchange a 74 series mid wheel base rear diff (drum brakes) with a newer model 75 or 79 series rear diff with disc brakes?
Also what year model did they come out with disc brakes?
I'm also looking at putting a coil diff and radius arms in the front, has anyone encountered any problems doing this? As far as I'm aware you have to swap the H55 gear box with a H105 gearbox and transfer case any help, advise or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Gary welcome to the forum mate.
Whats up with your brakes to warrant rear rotors and calipers. :)
I HATE DRUM BRAKES! lol.
I'm putting a 79 series coil front diff with 5 stud and figured as the rear diff needs a full rebuild minus the centre I'm wanting to put a rear 79 series diff with 5 stud in the back. So a 5 stud front and rear.

The later model JDM 74s we get in NZ had rear discs but not sure on what year.

Don't those 79s have some crazy axle width difference front-back?

Another idea for you: do what I did & use an 80 series rear axle with a GQ Nissan front axle - cheap, common, same width & ratios but a much stronger front R&P. A fair bit wider than std 74 but that is a big plus if lift & large tyres are also in the plan.

Cheers
Clint
