Anyone ever mounted speakers in the tailgate of their 60 series. I have a pair of 6x9's to mount but have no cargo panels.

I like this a lot. do you have a step by stepView attachment 1666812 View attachment 1666813 I mounted mine above the tail gate on reversible mounts. These gets the sound above the load and allows me to broadcast rearward
Yes and no. Passenger side would be good but due to the extra seat in the cargo area behind driver I probably couldn't mount driver side.Do you need some panels?
Would be interested for sure. Just pm me the details.I made a set out of mdf and covered them with grey carpet, they do have 6x9 cutouts. I am going to make another set in the near future if you want one or both.
I highly recommend NOT mounting speakers in the tailgate. They will collect dirt and water when opened. If you load anything large like furniture, lumber, tires, tool boxes, etc. they will get damaged. Plus, you won't be able to sit on the tailgate.
I got some cheap 6x9 boxes from Crutchfield and tied them to the floor with removable straps. This offers the flexibility of turning them around when tailgating or removing them entirely for full loads.
It's pretty simple to add the 6.5 stock mount brackets found in the 62's into a 60. Best option unless you really want loud tunes.
