I knew I was going to need to replace my fuel line during my rebuild (damaged) so I went ahead and ordered an adapter to give me a 1/4 barb fitting allowing me to switch over to regular old rubber lines. Imagine my surprise then when I took off the fitting on the old tank and found that the under seat tank has a female fitting (as does the adapter). Googling, it seems that I am the only person on the planet with a female fitting on the tank instead of a male (it's even the 13x1.5 threads and isn't an adapter as far as I can tell)? Pictures of the old fuel line and the tank below, but has anyone seen something like this? And I guess more importantly, any options for getting a new line hooked to this thing?

Maybe that tank was "fixed" at some time in the past. Make an adapter. Bolt that threads into the tank fitting. Drill it and solder a 1/4" hose barb fitting. You could likely find both at home despot for less than $10.

I'm thinking of just re-threading an 8AN adapter I have with the m13x1.5 die that I picked up. It's just so strange that it has those mystical threads for it to be a repair.

did you try spinning the female coupler off the tank?
maybe it is threaded on to the male?
doesn't look welded to the tank.

great minds, as you were posting this I was in the garage with various tools trying to spin it off. It is acting like it's mushroomed on the inside of the tank, no hint of threads but also not solidly welded. Or I just broke the weld and will have a leak when I tank it up :D
