The 64 LPB has long boards. Here's the picture from the passenger side. You can see the running board shim is about 1/4 inch thick (what's left of it).
You said you would, and I for one am glad you did. Thank you for taking the time, as your info and picture really helped, and I can go ahead an install them.
Uh well, sorry to do this but I´m not quite there yet. I´m looking at the photo of the two insulators (running board and two "thick ones") and the pic has me confused. I see the "thick insulator" is not a simple affair (like a hockey puck) but rather a dual layered device fits into that "space" between the frame and that extended bracket, then lays under the extended bracket as well. I don´t see how people can just use hockey pucks in there unless they just leave that space empty between the bottom of the frame and that little bracket support? Seems to me that if there is no rubber between the frame and the bracket to support the bracket, said bracket would just collapse. So, whats the ticket... fill the space AND two inches of hockey pucks under the bracket? Am I making this too complicated? Tell me whizend old owls, what is the solution to the riddle. I am having disturbing visions of that inocent little space being brutally squashed between the irresistable downwardly mobile force of my Landcruiser and the imovable object that will be those two hockey pucks loosely coupled to the earth.
And thanks guy´s for the pics and diagrams, your the SHIZNET!
Well, since you asked, I did a little further investigation and photography.
There is a gap between the little bracket support and the tub itself. It is filled partially by the upper portion of the mount, and by the nut welded to the top of the mount. But you can see that the space is not completely filled, and in 44 years it has not collapsed.
The new mount I have there is what SOR sells for that position, labeled Lg Body Mount, and it is Toyota part number 52032-90300. As you can see, it is not even as thick as a Swedish hockey puck!
It is unfortunate that that mount is the ONLY one on my truck that is NOT filled by hockey pucks.
Well then Dave, this hungry sheep thanks you very much for putting my fears to rest. Alrighty then, 2 inches under the cowl, 1 inch under the rest it is. I´m waiting for my tube work to be done (and my half doors are lagging too) before I finally post a pic or two of my amazon wonder, I¨m sure your all holding your breath right???
