I've had a 45 quart Edgestar for about two years now. Other a hiccup* on the cross-country trip I bought it for, it's worked great. I would definitely get another one.

I wouldn't worry about the 30 degree thing. I'm sure mine has hit +30 a time or two.

Mine has been running on 120V all this time as a beer cooler, too.

*on the trip, it was a last minute purchase, so we had it plugged into the cigarette lighter (because, duh, it comes with a lighter plug), which does not supply enough juice for the compressor. The display would light up, and the compressor would try to start, then immediately stop.

Once I ran direct power, it worked great.

I had the same problem with it in an 80. Not enough juice from the factory outlet. In my wife's LX450, it will run as long as the engine is running.

So, make sure you run a power source straight from the battery.
