Hey guys,

I'm going to need to replace my windshield once I get the project rig all back together as both of mine broke coming out (don't ask...).

I've read a bunch of threads on the forum so have a few ideas, but in the end I'd like someone who is familiar with roping the gasket and confident that they wont break the glass to do the job.

Also, all of my windows are removed so it's going to be a chore to get them all back in and sealed up.

I've ordered a complete set of welting from Wagongear as all my chrome that came out was done.

So...

1. Does anyone have an OEM windshield kicking around that they want to sell?

2. Does anyone have the experience and willingness to help with install?

Cheers!

He can do it, if I was home I'd come over and help. It's really an easy process to install them, are the rear windows still in
the rubber molding you removed them in?
You need a big bottle of spray on glass cleaner, this you use liberally as a basic lubricant on the painted seams and in the rubber.
It washes off with no stains or anything. Go buy a piece of cotton pull starter type rope, home hardware etc, that gives you about
2' extra at each end from the circumference of the rubber. You want it to be small enough to fit inside the rubber molding and have it so it crosses slightly away from one corner. You need someone with a steady, firm but not overly aggressive hand to push on the window from
the outside and you sort of pull the rubber over the lip from the inside. Use a broad screwdriver at first, or any 1/2" wide or so prying device.
So long as you are pushing from the outside square to the opening, and spraying liberally on the inside as you pull the rubber inner lip over the edge it should go pretty easy.
Start on the two side windows, then do the rear. If you buy a new front windshield, then use the mobile guy. FYI, I had him come and install the new front window on mine, took him about 90 sec to install. He didnt' even have the proper rubber molding with the welting, so I still don't have welting in my front window.
I asked him to help me install the side windows. Took him and his guy LESS then 4 minutes, and he charged me $110!!!!!
Your call.
I wasn't that impressed by him, and I don't like being ripped off. If it takes 5 min, then charge me for 5 min. my .02

Thanks guys. Appreciate the pointers.

I realize putting them in is probably much easier than taking them out...but I've only removed two so far and broke both of them...so...

As for the minimum charge, I agree that it's tough to pay for something that looks easy and doesn't take much time, but I'm probably willing to do that for peace of mind. I know that having been in the electrical trade for 13yrs I can do things, simple things, much faster and better than most home-owners can, and if they want to struggle with it and do it their way then great, but if I come to your house and make it look easy, you're paying a minimum charge regardless of how long it took.

Jon, I'm not certain as to when I'll even do the windshield so maybe you'll be back by then :-)
