I have an M8000 commercial like new. It would tuck great. How’s your XD look?

It's an old build date but it has lived on the garage floor most of it's life on a hitch carrier. It went on when duck season opened and came off when it ended. I'll get some pictures, that's a trade I can work with.

Got the ARB I snagged from @playedout bolted on today.

Working on an rear arb install and diff rebuild. Unluckily, mine is the older shim style instead of the crush sleeve. Hoping the stock shims work for the preload.

I thought the 84 would have a crush sleeve?

Everything was stock including the Toyota shim so I don’t think anyone else has been in it. Found some others talking about similar find on similar years on here as well so I don’t know what that is all about. I have the 1985 fsm and 1980 fsm so the earlier one works.

Ha thanks. Learning to do this stuff is half of the fun.

The rebuild kit came with silicone only. I wondered what others used. I’ll have to get some paper ones on order then.

RTV only 3rd to housing is fine.

I use the cork alone on the cover. Never have problems

Can you do a solid spacer and shim for preload? Anytime I'm in a third I try to swap in a solid spacer. Lots easier to dial in pinion than a crush sleeve... Sounds like that may be what your dealing with anyway, or something similar. Plus makes pinion seal changes much more forgiving in the future.

Folks seems to really like the solid spacers for sure. Based off what I read and one of the mechanics from cruiser brothers today, I should just build it to the earlier fsm specs.

To my limited knowledge, it looks like this functions similar to a solid spacer setup.

Been fiddling with the ARB bumper this morning trying to get it aligned.

I’ve run into an issue that’s annoying me. The bumper sits about 1/4” closer on the passenger side than it does on the driver side. You wouldn’t never notice it if it wasn’t for the headlight washers.

Is there any tricks to getting these aligned? Probably just gonna ditch the washers and then you’d never see the difference.

Goodness don’t make me go and measure if mine is straight.

1/4” leave it, and enjoy......:meh:
