6-spline/30-spline Interchangeable on Warn Hubs

40's were never 27 spline outers. Only ifs trucks were the lesser diameter.

After ball and claw axles came the coarse (10) spline birfs. The switch to disk brakes changed the stub to a longer 30 spline. In 79 they switched to a shorter 30 spline stub that matches the mini truck and 60 series birfs.

Inner axle is still 27 spline though (which is why the chromo 30 spline axle upgrades are a great upgrade)
 
So i took the two apart for you to see the differences. I believe you can swap the 6 pline peice into the new housing by using a few machines spacers. In the picture you can see my original 6 spline drive shaft gear in the new warn housing. The splines line up. In the next picture the difference between the two. Looks like a spacer taking up the space from one side or the other or both will make it work. Maybe a small bronze machines spacer(s)

Hey skully3 would you be willing to price out a complete set of spacers so I could do the same swap?
