I take it you struck out...?I've seen sets on Craigslist about every couple weeks... Wishing I bought a set of 4 WITH 34" tires a couple weeks ago for $800... Missed it. Would have used the tires, and maybe let you guys have the wheels somehow. I have 5...but they are definitely getting harder to find...

I'm likely driving to the Denver area in a month. If you really are looking for a set, let me know and I'll keep my eyes open. Maybe I could bring them to you if I find a set near me either in Southern Cal, or somewhere along the way such as Vegas, or Salt Lake City...

If you want to swing by San Antonio or price plus shipping is worthwhile, I'm still shopping daily for a fifth.
Found four in Louisiana for $700 plus shipping, but pretty worn looking. Had with tires for $900. Shipping is what hurts.
Another set on eBay for $1000. Almost tempted as seeing fewer listings.

Given the low frequency use of the spare is there any reason not to put a 17" steel or other alloy wheel on there.

Having all five wheels/tires the same allows for five tire rotation - thus extending the life of all tires. Also increasing the likelihood of having a good spare when you need it.
Yeah, when I picked up the set for my 100 last year these seemed to pop up weekly but it seems they are listed less often now. I would have been happy to pick up and ship for whoever if they were not an hour and a half away. If you can get him to meet close to Denver I would meet up and then ship them for you no problem.
Another reason to have a matching fifth is for the guys running tire carrier out back with the wheel exposed. Looks odd when you have a different wheel hanging on the back vs. the other wheels.

Most cars don't have full size spares these days.... so I'm thinkin it's pretty normal to NOT think about rotating spares.
I have recently acquired a 2nd set of RWs. I may keep one which would give me 3 extras to sell. If anyone is interested in a 5th, send me a PM. I am not decided for sure, but if I had 3 people who showed immediate interest, I would probably go that direction.
