55mph backfiring and loosing power

This just started happening at about 55 in third gear it just starts to loose power starts popping and backfiring and jerking back and forth... If you let off and ease back in to it works fine, untill about 55 again... Idles fine hit the gas in neutral rev up fine, just while driving, if you down shift and hit 2 it gets better until about 55 again and loose power and slows down till 30 or so until you let of gas and get back in to it slow again....

Fuel filter maybe didn't start this till I filled all the way up.. I just got it and it had sat for awhile and I drove it around for about 3 weeks and no problem until I filled it all the way up?

Sounds exactly like the fuel filter. You probably have rust in the top part of the tank.

What I was thinking but it seems pretty hard to find a oem filter replacement in town....

Get some of those clear glass fuel filters, put one in front and one behind your stock filter. Get the pack of filter element replacements. Keep the elements in your glovebox. Keep the wrenches needed to change the elements in the rig. Keep a foot or so of fuel hose handy in case you need to bypass the stock filter. Keep the gas tank full as possible, or take the tank out to get flushed.

Drove it home to day getting worse starting to cut out and backfire at lower speeds now, will get some extra filters and clear one you can hear it sucking air and just not getting the fuel... Going to replace some of the old fuel lines also..
