Can anyone tell me the location of the carb cooling fan relay? I've looked for it on the truck, searched the 40/55 Tech section, and searched here but nothing talks about where it is physically located or mounted on a 55. I have all other items of that circuit located (Cooling Fan Timer, motor connector, thermister, etc.)and have a FSM wiring diagram. I need this to complete my trouble shooting.

Thanks,
Norm

There is no seperate relay for the carb cooling fan but a relay/timer module that's located under the dash behind the center air vent. Pull the vent (remove the two bolts) and you should be looking at it - it's bolted to the firewall.

Thanks Ming. That would explain why I couldn't find it! The electrical schematic in the FSM specifically shows a relay and a timer for the 55's. I guess it could be an internal relay in the Timer. I took the timer a part and the circuit board has what looks like the timer coil and possibly a separate relay device. I'll have to look closer and take some pix tonight.

Hijack time. So, are you now planning to finish up the 55 and use that instead of building the 60? I failed smog last week with my 55, but will try again this week after some carb tweaks. If everything goes well, it should be plated and insured real soon. We'll have to meet up for a pig run. Maybe Crown King?

Howdy! We are going to have to do something! There are getting to be a lot of Pigs in the valley. Time for a getogether, just like the old days. My frame/steering repair is done and I am just trying to finish up some body work on the DS fender. I may just bolt it on so I can go driving again. It's been way too long. John

Still working on the pix. Had to throw some new shoes on my FJC last night instead.

Hey Jack, As soon as I get this cooling fan issue nailed I'd be down (or up) for a Crown King Piggy run. Been running great except for this occasional hot start problem. Good luck with the smog police. I got the feeling they didn't want me to pass. Hope your 2nd effort is successful. -Norm
