And boy does it looks awesome. I will at least get the adapter mocked up and I might test run the engine tomorrow.

The flywheel is also a Fidanza / aluminum performance with replaceable steel friction surfrace. Really high end / designed for 4x4labs and this application.. It's a work of art. Includes aluminum pilot bushing spacer, all hardware. Designed for a Ford gear reduction V10 starter that is much smaller than the Mercedes super inefficient behemoth. Also uses a big fat GM clutch.

Very psyched... :)

Here is the engine. It is going in a 1991 Toyota pickup. Lots of work to make it fit in the pickup but it will work. It would be great in a FJ40.. When you put them in front of a manual transmission all of a sudden they have all of their torque..

Here is my complete build thread on 4BTswaps.com
'91 Toyota Pickup - Benz OM617 diesel

The engine has been cleaned up and painted a hair. There are some good tips on my thread on 4BT swaps about getting a little more power out of it. I think it should work really well...

That looks very nice, post some pics of the swap, I am interested to see how it does.
Someday when I get back to restoring my FJ40 this may be the route I go now that the adapter is actually available.
I love the Mercedes engine.

Those flywheels are a work of art-I've held one in my hands.

Luke had his FJ40 set up with the 5 cyl diesel last year. Last time I was up at the Labs he had a pile of motors, too. Very cool.

righton andre!

i've had one of the adapters at the shop for about two months now, waiting for the vehicle and engine to come in. going into a 40 and i'm looking forward to doing the swap.

I doubt it, they have been around for a long time and I like the setup.

When I get a chance I'll post pics of the R151 (the heavier duty) Toyota pickup V6/turbo 5 speed adapter. It uses the stock toyota flywheel that has been precision redrilled. Also uses the Toyota original starter and clutch, so it's all original. also a work of art...

Hope it helps. I also don't work for 4x4Labs, just a happy supporter for a long long time...

thanks, a

Hey Andre, great setup.

Is there a smaller 3 Litre engine in this family.

I have a 1st gen runner that I would like to get rid of the 6 cylinder in the future and 3 link the front like you did except with Underground off roads kit.

It is. He finished up the H series adapter a few months ago. Was waiting on a test fit from someone putting it in. I need to find out if that went thru so I can order mine.
