Hi,
My CDL is stuck in lock . LC1997 automatic triple lock

My mechanic says the 4WD ECU controller gone bad and not working. Checking in the forum and want to know if this specific to front and rear lockers or this can cause issue in engaging CDL.. when i change from.H to L the lights are not coming on dash. I lifted one wheel and tried rotating and not spinning.. that's where i found the veichle is stuck in CDL.

I'm sorry that you're dealing with that.

It "could" be the locker switch/actuator on the transfer case.... PN 84222-12010 (Transfer Case Switch).

That switch can get gummed up causing the locker either to stay locked, or not to lock at all. I would check that switch before throwing a lot of money at an ECU. The t-case switch (if a new one is required... you can clean up the existing one and it will likely work again) is a relatively cheap part... for an 80... lol.

I just went through a lot of similar things trying to track down why my front locker refused to lock. It ended up being the lock actuator, and not electrical, thank goodness.

I have CDL rebuild kits on my site. I’d start with that first. There are threads out there that have rebuilt the unit and fixed the problem
Heck, I'll throw up the link for you. You've got lots of great products/parts.

Did your dash indicator work after the switch was changed out?

No dash light is still not working after changing the switch, i tried checking the switch connector with paper clip and the dash lights are coming.

Mechanic has checked the actuator with battery and its working fine. However the dash lights are not coming.

I was able to sort this with the electrical issue, now with 7pin mod i am able to get the dash lights, however facing new issue when reversing the dash light goes off. Does the actuator gummed up.

Update!!!

It was seized viscous coupler..i am asking mechanic to remove the VC..
Searched threads in the forum and many posts are available about VC removal.

I hope i am going in right direction by way of removing the VC.

Any comments will be appreciated
