Hello i am new to the forums and am thinking of buying a Toyota Surf (looking at 1990-1998 models). I would very much like a diesel and was wondering if the diesel engines in the Surfs are reliable.
I presume that the 3.0 liter engine i see people talking about being unreliable on these forums is a petrol as it is a 6cyl engine from what i understand.
So far i have seen 3 different diesel engines in them which are a 2.4 Turbo diesel, a 2.8 diesel, and a 3.0 turbo diesel (all of these are 4cyl). The 3.0 Turbo Diesel appeals to me the most as it is the biggest, but i was wondering how realiable it is?
I live in Australia so the models may be slightly different and i believe here is it a Hilux/Surf and NOT a 4runner/surf, although i may be mistaken and am not sure if it is just the name that is different or if they are a slightly different car.
Any information or opinions would be greatly appreciated
