4Runner Rims on a 45LP

Or maybe even a picture of the 4Runner rims on a 40.
My truck is kind of... ruggedly handsome shall I say, and I am wondering if putting some aluminum rims on it might be like me putting on my sparkly 4" heels while I have my coveralls on.
I am leaning towards stock steel rims but there is a set for cheap on Kijiji.
The splits could be used, but they weigh a ton, and you need to use tubes with them.

Hi Kev, I too did not like the weight of the splits plus a pain with the tire companies now, I went with the Smoothies they are not 4Runners but they are 16x7 with 4" BS and I have disc up front. Something to consider. I know you might find the 4Runners somewhere for a good price just don't know the BS for them.

I thought about using the 91/92 LC rims on my pickup but those are only 15". I did pickup two sets of third 4Runner wheels that are 16". These are the early five spoke. Think 2001/2002 were different. Once I get decent tires on them plan to haul a set up north where my 40s and 45LP are. 45LP is a 65 but have a 84 HJ47RV front and rear axles for it. Guessing a wheel spacer will be needed.

I have my tires ordered. They get here on Monday.

They won't mount the tires. I'll go there next Saturday and they will remove the wheels, I'll take the ring out in the parking lot, they will break the inside bead, I'll do the swap using the same tube and liner, put the ring in and pressurize it, and then back to them for balance and putting it back on the truck... unless I find a set of rims before then.
I gotta say, your truck is looking great. Drive that sucker down to Cruiser Fest in SLC on September 10th. You can hang with us 45 crowd.
I used to have the 16" white wagon wheels on my 45 and I put them on my '92 4RNR for a trip one time. They didn't seem to stick in or out too far.
x2 on what Gumby said, find a place that does tractors wheels and such, usually one of those ma and pa shops. The liability is what drives the train at most of the big named shops. God help us when they go to hover cars 
Finally got around to trying some 16" 4Runner rims off a third generation. 65 with stock axles, even with a 1/4" wheel spacer the rim hit the tie rod end. Same rim on a 76 disc brake axle with the 1/4" spacer it barely clears. Might hit a balancing weight.
While only 15" I prefer the earlier second generation rim. I have these in three different offsets. The 80 series rim uses a tapered lug nut while mini truck/4Runner use the shank style which uses more thread with a wheel spacer.
I really like the five spoke on my 99 4Runner but think the standard third generation aluminum rim might look better on a 4X series. Those came in both 15" and 16".

Nice pics LITP.
I ended up getting some wagon wheels. They don't look so bad.
Although the third gen aluminium wheels look the best of the two, I'm not keen on either of them.
The white wagon wheels don't look so bad when they get a little dirt on them.

I was just trying them on. Almost like the roller wheels I have on it the best. Once I restore with later hood, cowl, windshield and door may go with 2nd gen 4Ruuner rims. Believe those were used even early in the eighties. Would be close to period correct. Think my oldest rims have a eighties date stamp.
