welds held and tore the frame right out! i figured with it being double walled down there i wouldn't have to brace it even thought i already had the piece cut! i'm such a freaking idiot!:bang:

Here's where it's starting to wrap around the bracket!

yup..i fixed it Tuesday night. haven't had a chance to take pictures of it yet though...i'll try to get some first thing in the morning. i braced it pretty much the same way the stock fj80 is braced...with a piece of tubing across to the passenger rail. i'm working on a model to send to ballistic to cut and press for me of a better designed drop bracket which will still utilize the bracing but will be stronger all the way around. i'll try and get a screen shot when i finish it up.

Glad you got it fixed. When is the rear going in? I started on mine and need some inspiration.

I'm still trying to figure out my budget for this spring semester...I'm just about out of my financial hole but i only have one more week of full time work before school starts back up january 18th. I've done several mesaurements though and i'll have to modify the rear spring pearches as the od of the pirch is larger than the id of the fj80 front springs! didn't get quite as lucky as i had hoped there...it's about 300 bucks worth of stuff i'm going to be ordering from ballistic including a set of ballistic joints for the upper and lower arms and the panhard bar, a set of heavy duty link mounts and a couple other odds and ends.

I'm putting in new lower link mounts on the frame side so i can use the full length of the land cruiser lower links...should allow for a bit better flex and more stable ride. for the upper links i'm planning on putting the ballistic joint end at the axle side to compensate for the stock link mounts being straight vs the 4runner's being angled outward.

here are some pics of the bracing i did for it.

i'm still going to add some gussets to there just to be safe...back to my over-engineering ways

I know! I know!! the truck has been running this way for a couple months now...School has intensified with classwork and also with the Rutgers Formula Racing team that I am on. I really need to get around to a lot of things on the truck asap! I'm hoping to clean some things up over spring break which starts tomorrow but it doesn't look too good...I'll be working all week up here in new brunswick where my welder and garage and lift are in south jersey!!!! no bueno...I might be able to work something out with my buddy if he's going to be working the same jobsite though. we shall see.

How bout you mmml4? where's your updates on that rear axle!? I was letting you get a lead on me so i could follow a bit in your footsteps!

What did your frame height end up?

What castor are you running with the correction bushings?

How far forward did you move the axle?
