Ok, so here goes, Im going to try and document this whole swap as as thoroughly as possible while still getting this swap done as quick as possible. Now i havemt been able to find much information on 4bd1t"s in to gm amd mopar vehicle like F-series fords or chevys so thats wgat im going to be documenting. The goal for this is to have it road worthy in 2 months or less so believe this thread will be up dating semi quickly. So far i have a donor vehicle which is a 1990 isuzu npr 3 ton delivery truck that has spent the last 4 years with weeds growing up into it. Its drive train is a 4bd1t with a 3 speed automatic transmission rated for a gvwr of 36k pounds (should be bullet proof no matter what i put it in becuase i will never reach that weight class XD). It has a approx. 121hp at 3k and rough 315 ft lbs. Of torque at 1400 rpm. Thats pretty rediculous for a 4 cyclinder! Any ways i found tgis isuzu on craigslist listed as (4cyl diesel:500$) holy cow are you kidding me?! So i thought this could be a find of a life time so i called the guy and a ranged a time to come look at it. Well when i got there boy it was a shock. There it was, the while truck in the middle of a draw with briars growing all around and up into it.....(oh crap), as i started mentally adding up rebuild kits, belts, fluids,an injectionpump, fuel lines, im slowly imagining this deal of a life time turning into a money pit. So i became a little skeptical but kept an open mind. So the guy grabbed a machete and off we started walking over to it. And i started looking. Wow! Other than some rust this motors not bad! So minus the v belts we decided to try and see if it would crank....oh lord. So the key was lost years ago so we popped the ignition and put the screw driver in...dead batteries...shocker so i walked back to the truck and grabbed a spare i brough hoping it would have enough juice to crank the 27 year old deisel over. Success! On one battery the motor didnt even turn over 3 times before taking off! :D at this time my heart skips a beat and i decide to check the milage. 90K!? This motor is brand new!? Trying to hide my excitement here came the time to talk about money he talked about how he figured 500 for the motor 300 for the trans and 100 for any other misc parts i wanted to take so i countered with how about. 900 and i can pull any thing i want and when im done you can scrap the frame? Sold! He was exctatic to get almost a 1k out if a junk truck and i found a power plant and any part i would need to do a repowering minus any fabrication i had to do. That was just a few days ago im not gonna be detailing the whole thing in this style. So dont think you have to read a book just to find out the toque specs for a valve cover. Any ways moving this week im hoping to pull the donor power plant since i cant cheaper move the truck 20 miles to my residence so im gonna have to find a tractor or something to pull the motor from where it sit plus gett all the dressing while im at it. I will be taking lots of pictures and spending almost all my free time when im not at work. Working on this so my. Progress should be updated atleaat a couple times a week. But currently here goes

Donor power plant:900 for complete box truck ,minus box. 4bd1t with 3 spd automatic transmission
1 belt just to turn the pulleys on my second visit: 21.60
5qts of rotella 15w40 16.00
And 2 gallons of diesel 5.00
Bam! Idles smooth.

Next in the todo list:
Pull donor power plant
Find host shell for cheap

Nice score mate sounds like a nice cheap engine what are you going to transplant this engine into.

Well i was thinking about a 74' ford f-100 flat bed. Or a 93'f250 both cost less than 500 and are road worthy and would support the weight of the heavier diesel amd tramsmission. Oh and an update i went and moved the donor truck today and put the v belt on it purred like a kitten. Ill try and upload the video tomorrow.

No short term, should be completed within 3 weeks and if all goes well this is the truck its going in to. Its gonna be my daily driver/work horse. I find out inbthe next day or two if im getting the truck.

Far as i can. Tell it was just the cab mounts. I'm actually a sheet metal fabricator. So they shouldn't be too hard to Make.

So here is an update, pardon my grammer o cant feel my fingers becuase its only 33 degrees. When to the donor truck disconnected all the shift linkages and the transmission harness all the way to where it goes into the cab, harvested the dash cluster the trans control module and started pulling the dash harness that is gonna get hacked up and all the useless. Bits removed....
Im trying not to try and graft too much of the host truck harness with the donor harness. The only part that is ginna be. Grafted is the ignition. If all goes well. The 74 flat bed sold (tomorrow is my pay day so apparently. The guy wouldnt wait. ... What a prick... Oh well.
I have a lead on a 92 f250 extended cab i believe, from a buddy at work that might trade me my pistol for it (keeping this budget low ;) ) that was if i need hoses and custom parts (i.e. custom made straight shaft drive line). By the way if anyone has advice or a pdf version of the shop manual for this motor i would appreciate it. Im actually flying blind when it comes to this motor i have limites diesel knowledge so i am researching as i go and in my free time also of you would like to follow progress i also post this to my facebook for you tech savy folks #Kenneth Boggs parkersburg wv usa or if your close and want to help i always welcome more knowledge.

On a side not i measure from fan houseing to the yolk and this motor is 5 foot 6 inches long so now i have a rough estimate of how long of a tranny tunnel i need. I also called an isuzu dealer and got some of the tranny specs its an RMK 4 spd with over drive (4th gear). I have also decided to snag the rear axle incase i decide i want a 3 ton rear end and leaf springs so i will grab that last.
Thats all for today. Also if anyone has any manuals that they wouldnt mind emailing me 5337kb@gmail.com

So as an update im picking uo the shell today and yanking out both motors over the course of the bext 20 hours. All post pics as i take them. The new truck is a 95 toyota t100. The only problem is. The engine Bay is only 34 inches long and the diesel motor is 36 with the clutch fan. So im gonna do an electric fan conversion to it and take off the clutch fan an use the original toyota radiator. And air conditioning radiator for water cooling and transmission cooling then a smaller aftermarket transmission cooler right in front to give the turbo coolant line a little extra cooling power. Will update as i work so stay tuned today.

Wow the 4bd1t is going to send the hilux, sr5, surf, 4 runner or what ever it's called stateside. I can't wait to see this install please keep the pics coming. :)

Its a 95 toyota t100 1\2 ton. With a 3 inch lift i traded pistol. For it i had to call it a night it was raining and i have no shelter

That is a huge fan!

Looking forward to seeing how this works out. Wonder if it will be tough to fit that motor in the T100 or not?

Keep up the good work.

Haha with the fan the motor is 36.5 inches long. The engine bay from radiator to fire wall is 34 inches. So i took the clutch fan off and im gonna replace it with a fan hooked up to a switch and i can turn it on at start up.
