Matt, If you are going to split the gaskets (and I understand why), cut them in the center of one of the long sides and put that cut on the inside of the hinge. Before you place the gasket around the hinge, shoot a small bead of Dow Corning 795 black caulking in the gap first and press the gasket into it. I've had great results with this caulking in splicing windshield rubber. If a little gets on the paint, you just wait 'til it's good and dry and scrape it off with a fingernail. I'm going to creat the entire gasket with this caulking after I finally paint sometime in the year 2025.

Thanks for the info! I probably would have cut them on the bottom, but I like the idea of cutting them on the back/long side as you said. I will also order up some of that 795 product.

Thanks, Matt

I have plenty of strikers in stock :)

Yep! but it is 40+ years door tech. This would be the best time to replace the stricker plates too

So what is that, like 2 sets of door strikers for every FJ45LV on the planet. Nice hoard. :D

I need 3 sets. I'll pay you on the 10th if something comes through.

i am thiking of not pulling my doors too as in just had my stroke. so is it possible to do like matts suggestion or any ideas anyone:confused:

you can cut the long side and install that way but there might be a gap. Treeroot and I tryed them on many of the LVs in his hord. some had gaps some did not.
I made my mold from good ones I have collected over the years. there is some shrinkage in the 40 year old parts. alot of the broken one I had found failed on the side that had been cut. you can fill the gap with the Dow 795 caulking or I will include 2 extra seals to cut a little slice to fill the gap. If I had a 45 to put them on I would still slide them on. If for any reason you do have to remove you doors in the future they will be easyer to deal with. and these can be painted just CLEAN then VERY well with acetone.

Sorry, I have to wait. No loot. Possibly the 10th. If they are gone then... they are gone. Oh well.

Terry, I need a second set, duh, I forgot I have two LV's. I went to PP to try and send you a second payment, but it will not go through? I also sent you a private email, but it came back as undeliverable. Are you aware of any problems? No matter what, add another set for me. Thanks, Mark

most of you should have received your seals. The most recent orders shipped yesterday. Let me know what you think. I have a few sets left.
