Mudders,

I posted this in the fj45 owners and thought might as well try here too.

I was stripping my hj47 doors down for other repairs I noticed the little chrome latches/handles that secure the ventilating windows on the doors were a little on the sloppy side. Has anyone pulled these latches/handles apart and replaced/repaired the internal mechanism with any success?? Do your latches work like the one on the pics. They might even be available from toyota, I have the part numbers so I will have to check this out, but I don't really want to buy them if I can fix what I already have.:meh:

I have a spare one that doesn't lock so if no one on here can give me a heads up, I am willing to dive into this one to see what's what. Any advice is welcome! And yes I did use the search function with no success.

Thanks:hillbilly:

Below shows the latch/handle in the locked position and turned up as far as it will go.

I "fixed" mine a few years ago. Sorry no pics.
The trick is to get that little pin out. Probably put together the wrong way by the PO. It's pretty easy to do this.

Hi Soot,

Did you make some pics when you was fixing this? I could use some help with these guys as well as the one on the passengers' side door falls off all the time. I took the pin out, took all loose parts out and putted back together, but I'm still not happy with how they work. I don't want to buy new locks as I think they are pretty expensive.

Anyone who could provide some help here?

Grtz,
Joof

I recently did mine, but also did not take photos. I used a small punch to knock out the pin and noted the sequence of parts as I took everything out. I used my buffing wheel to polish up the lever housing and degreased everything before reassembling. I used a dab of lithium grease inside the housing and they seem to work very well now.

Good luck!

Thanks gentlemen,

I will take everything out again today or tomorrow and make some pictures. There is one thing of which I'm not certain that it belongs to be that way.

To be continued...

Here is a better picture. I marked all parts in red.
Shaft (67519-60011)
Note that you have 2 identical washers (90202-12041 outside and inside glass)
Then another washer (90013-80002)
Then a washer, wave (90206-09011)
Then the nut, spring, button, pin, handle.
All the parts are under $1, except the button $4.23, the pin $2.73 and the handle $34.=

I know this is an old thread but I need the vent window latches. What are the first 5 numbers or prefix for the -67541 /-67542 and smaller components? Thanks.
