40 TC Question

Anyone….what is the wire pair for that come out of the transfer case next to Speedo cable connection point. Mine has been cut at 2” length. Is it important?

What year of '40? If the TC came out of an older FJ-40 with a vacuum actuated transfer case, , it could be related to the 4WD actuation light.

My FJ-40 is a 1970 (build date of 07/69) as well. It originally had a three-speed shifter on the column, vacuum shift of the transfer case and a mechanical under dash shifter for low range. Pictures of your setup would be best.

Your 1970 could have an in-line speedmarker relay for the VSV. Virtually everyone has abandoned the speedmarker for a one-piece direct cable. Aftermarket cables are readily available from most vendors, including yours truly.
