Oregon is futher. The 74 has thicker sheet metal, disc brakes, lockers, V8, auto, Orion, cage and its only $4000. Seems like a no brainer to me.
How much to get it put back together? Well, I got lots of learning to do. I want a jrobbodeanCTToddF clone type 40 when done. I want a marlin crawler also. Can that be used in conjunction with the orion?

Catch a jump seat out there and take lots of pics. Looks solid in the few pics posted. The parts are worth well over asking price.

REALLY! I thought that is what yours was worth.
That is a 4k truck in pieces in AZ., another 2 grand to ship, and then I have not even started putting it together. I also want to get rid of carb. Can any carb motor have an EFI conversion? It still needs things like the alternator, power steering pump, and the brackets and pulleys. There is no battery or wiring harness in the engine bay.
I thought a good starting point would be a clean 40 that is mechanically sound then add protection and lift. I also lean more toward the CT mechanic abilities but don't have a commercial garage as my biz and friends in Hot Springs with shops.
I got about 20k to spend up front, if I get what I would like for the 62 and 100, or about 10k then use cash from other cruisers for the build. I am hoping to get a 40 with good weather DD capabilities but also play at superlift. I do not need a super pretty truck like bodeans. There can only be one pretty truck!

that oregon truck is NICE. I would sell the hundy and 60 for a DD like that....my .02cents...id fly out and drive it back too!!!

that is what I had planned to do with mine until I realized how bad the rust was.
that truck looks really original but isnt so mint you cant lightly wheel it and just have a blast driving it.
not sure where you are with the wifes ride but get her the kid hauler and go the 40 route.

I haven't even seen the listing for the Oregon truck, but as for a road trip, take a week off and do it.

I have 3 trips this month that end in Anchorage with a dead head from Anchorage to anywhere I want in the US. HMMM!

I would love to see more pics and have more knowledge on the AZ project truck. If it checks out, Rent you a Ryder with a car hauler. Load that bitch up with all the junk. Drive to Rob and drive it a month or so later. DONE.
The Oregon Truck is fine BUT
if you are going for the clone you are going to bust your budget.
Orion 2k plus install
Power steering 1k plus install
Cage 1.5k plus install
ARB frt and rear $2k plus install
Winch $700
Shoot send it to Metal Tech and georg and have them handle the cloning.$$$$$
But if you want a stock 40 to look cool in and drive on 1&2's get the Oregon truck and drive it home. It looks fantastic.
Better yet by Jack Torrence's yellow 40 in Brandon. Offer him 20k. Its a sweet truck.
You are just a long freaking way from the clone you say you are aiming for.

Mike, it's all in what you want and how much you want to spend to do it. If you want a project, you'll get exactly that with the project 40. It'll be a more capable 40 in the long run with some time, money, elbow grease - be it yours or someone else's. The other can be just as capable, but it'll need money.

s***.......the ARB's and compressor are worth $2500 by their self.
The motor, tranny, and ARB's are worth at least $4000 alone.
I'd I had not bought a 40 already, I would be all over this one I believe.
The tranny is one of the best you can get....if not the best.
I have not spent alot of rime lookin at this truck, but drom what i saw I would take a very serious look at this. If you want a VERY capable wheeler and are willing to put the time in it, I think this is the deal.

If I had 4Gs, that truck would not be one of your options
It needs lots of work but it does have a good base to start from. Good buy fo the $$$ but will still take some $$$ to finish
