Hello all,

I have owned my 40 for 10 years but the last 8 of these years have seen my baby in storage. I have been overseas in the military and am finaly back on east coast USA in NC. When I purchased my land cruiser I did a few of my own upgrades and maintenance myself (rebuilt master cylinder, new roll bar, etc). With 8 years of very poor storage (old pole barn- rats were living in my glove box and using the seats for bedding) I know I have several things to do. So here are the questions>

1- Rebuild the original straight 6 engine (all original parts- measns more to some than others) or get new engine. If rebuild...does anyone know a good place around fayetteville, raleigh area that can do this.

2- Need a part for my Barnes winch....called barnes and they only make crane winches now. any ideas

3- With my limited experience in working on vehicles (also had a 72 bronco in Alaska) should I tackle a job like changing my hub seals.

4- Are there any local clubs in Fayeteville, raleigh area??

Thanks for any help in advance

Brian

:grinpimp: to be sure, answers are coming for you..

You dont see too many number matching cruisers so I guess it depends if you can keeps that way may have some affect on resell value should that time ever come. Get the service manual out and get in there you can always pay someone later but you always have this site for help. Find a club they are always help for too. Good luck

Yep, post up in the TLCA Forum under Olde North State Cruisers. You've got a military member around the corner, Addicted56, who's working on one. Meeting next Sunday if you're interested, there was talk of doing hubs on some other member's rigs also...

Welcome back the good ol' US of A!

1. Why not try it yourself? If I can do it, anyone can!

2. No ideas.

3. Absolutely, only way to learn is to do - "the game is the teacher."

4. I'm in Southern Pines, I thought I saw someone from Raeford, and plenty of others around - Olde North State Cruisers.

Welcome home brother, I will redeploy home next month after 8 months away and I have a cruiser as well That I need to learn about for I have never tacked any of this neither, and prior to this LC I had a 74 Bronco? Anyway, I will probably be getting in touch with the state club there as well. I live right outside of Fayetteville and will be in touch with ya, this forum is the best thing to help you with your plans on ur cruiser, everyone is very helpful.

First off. WELCOME BACK!

If you don't mind a little drive I have a friend in Hampton/Newport-News Va. that is looking to sell a good running 2F pretty cheap. It is still in his rig. He goes by 07TEQ here on mud.

Laurinburg, NC

VaCruiserRgr,Roberto,MD11Fr8Dog,

My Dad is in the Laurinburg area of NC. He is within 45 mins. of all you guys. We attend GSTMR each year, but all our friends that attend are from out of state. You guys should drop my Dad a line at pw3700@yahoo.com He is from Fayettville and has a well built 1975 FJ-40 with a cammed 2F.

I'm in Nashville, TN, but looking to hit up Uwharrie sometime this summer. Maybe we all could meet up.

Regards,
Trae
