Well I cant believe that I am actually doing this but Im putting my 40 up for sale. I really dont want to, but the money I get from it will pay off some Dr. bills and help fund the purchase of an 80 or a 100. So for those of you that dont know here is the low down, I purchased this 40 a little over a year ago off ebay with the intentions of doing a full restore, and when I went to pick it up there was alot more rust and diamond plate than I anticipated, so without the funds for a tub replacement I decided to keep it as original looking as possible but also not be afraid to wheel it. It is a '79 but its titled as a '72, so in NC it is old enough to be inspection exempt. New paint. Desmogged 2F under the hood with 4sd tranny/tcase. It runs great, It has been pretty much my sole vehicle for about the past 6 months, I drive it everyday, pretty much everywhere I go. No power steering but it does have 4 wheel disc brakes. All of the interior parts are there, both heaters work great, has the factory floor mats, the seatbelt buzzer even works. It has an ARB bull Bar on the front right now but I will more than likely put the original front bumper back on for the sale. There are 2 sets of hard doors, and a set of soft doors, and a homebrew roof rack. The price is $5250.00, and if anyone has any questions or wants to take a look at it just shoot me a PM. Its located in Greensboro, NC.

Rust isnt nearly as bad as he makes it out to be. Steve the front yard offer still stands; that is if you get your taco legal again :) Its a nice 40!! ive driven it a few times and nothing but fun.

hate to hear this Steve. But I certainly understand. I keep going back and forth as well, but I doubt I could ever sell my 40 when it comes right down to it. I wish you the best of luck and lets get together soon.

I wish my 80 would sell....I would be in Greensboro this weekend.

How bad is the rust situation, it doesnt look that bad from the pics ????

The rust isnt that bad, most of it has been cut out and replaced with new sheet matal or diamond plate.

Thanks a bunch guys, I cant believe I put it up for sale, I think the eart just tilted on its axis a bit. Im not going to try hard to sell it, Im not even going to post it on the national section, just here on the Olde North State site, If it doesnt sell in a week or two I will definitely just keep it.

Heres a few more pics, taken just a about 10 minutes ago.

why don't you get rid of your 01 tacoma instead?? keep the 40

The Tacoma is going as well, I hate to sell it also, I bought it new in '01 and its been a great truck, 114000 miles and not one problem with it what so ever. The plan is to sell them both and buy a bigger rig, either an 80 or 100. Whatever I get it will definitely be a Toyota and more than likely a Land Cruiser.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! You will regret it....but, you can always buy/build a better one. Ask me how I know. ;)
I spent something like 9 years with my brown 40...never thought I would sell, but I did. Now that I have what I have, the decision would have been easier...but who would have known at the time?
At some point in your life, you need a reliable daily and a 40. 80's are nice, and they fit the dual purpose bill, but nothing is as nastalgic as a sweet 40. What you really need is to shoehorn a diesel in that bad boy and never look back! HAhaha.....evil laugh with alterior motives. Should I dangle the 13bt or 12ht I have in front of you?????? ;)

Barry's right on the money. Especially with the story you have about going to get it.

You gotta be careful Steve. hanging around with Jason and Alex will definitely make you want an 80. Theirs are pretty sweet. But just think of all the fun stories we've come across. Hey but if you feel it's the right way for you, then I'm with you. I'm sure you've thought this out.
