Ideas? You need a bigger tow rig.

Cautions? You need a bigger tow rig.

Horror stories? A full 180 degree spin flat towing my fj40 with a fully-loaded Suburban with my kids going around a slightly-damp freeway off-ramp travelling only at about 30mph. The folks behind us must have gotten a great show.

Do not even think about doing this. I don't tow with the Suburban any more unless it's just across town and guaranteed to be 100% dry. Even with my c3500 crew-cab dually I'm pretty white knuckled when flat towing.

I am inclined to agree.

Been there done that. 3 times I flat towed my 4Runner across town with my 1/2 ton Dodge. That was about the scariest thing I ever did. Towing a 11k trailer across the country with a 4Runner was 1000% safer. Never again.

Want to tow the 4Runner? Get a truck with a 7k+ towing capacity (the 2wd Pilot has w 2,000lb towing capacity) and a trailer.
