I just dropped my 87 HJ60 (diesel) off to get 4.88s installed and they are now saying its going to take all week and cost about $1500 after getting everything apart. The 5hrs you talk about above, was that for front and rear diff gear swaps?

it basicly took maybe 1-2 hrs straight time to dismantle and set up a third i already had out,

if i would have worked straight thru on removing the third in my 60. w/lockright.
and installing the new third w/lockright, i prolly could have done it in 3-4 hrs.
this was for the rear diff.

$1500. sounds like ALOT of $$$$

i paid $185. per R&P no install kit.
bought a seal and one shim for like $6.00 ;)

the $$$ sounds ok for doing the front and rear, but a week to o the job, should only take two days..

3-4 hours

it was hot here on saturday, although sittin under the 60 makes for some realy good shade! ;)

i run 35's so the 4.88's make a great combo IMO.

IT BRINGS BACK NEW LIFE TO O'LE BESSIE! :D

That's the combo I plan to go with after the SOA. I'll be putting 4.11s back in after the eventual 4BT conversion though :grinpimp:
