I have a '93 4runner with an automatic, a friend has a '90 model with a 5spd. Long story short I plan to give him the engine, but one of my brothers friends, a toyota dealership mech says that some of the autos do not have provision for a pilot bearing in the crank. I think that he is smoking crack, why would toyota have 2 different cranks for the same engine? Am I wrong? Am i going to have to pull it out & look?

Thanks tntoyota! I will be putting the engine from the auto in the 5spd truck. I haven't pulled the donor engine yet, but I think I am going to go for it. I mean worst case scenario--- I pull the engine, see that there is no hole, look like a 'tard, bolt it back up!

Ok guys, my wife is going to kill me. The 4runner with the auto was purchased as a parts truck, from a friend that we traded it to for a landcruiser last year, but when my brother backed it off the trailer I noticed that he sat in it way too long. My wife said "you're going to keep it aren't you......."All of the power windows work, the body is straight, the seats look nice-..................dammit. We are officially back up to 13 trucks. We went yard hopping today and bought most of the crap that we needed the donor truck for. I need a 12 step program or something.
