3spd. tranf. 2a 4spd. help needed

From what I've read, I would have to second what fj40Jim said. The H41 came in two different versions (or more), with one having a little bit deeper of a 1st gear. I have a cruiser tranny that howls a bit, but I'm not sure if it is from using a transfer case with 400,000 miles on it and a transition gear with very little wear, if any, or if its a bearing. I've put over 10,000 miles on it and it has never gotten any worse.

As for the tranni I guess it really is toyota.
The guy I bought it from says he has never seen one like this and has wrecked over 50 cruisers.
Told me it was from a 73 p/u diesel H motor.
input is the same as the F on the p/u H motor model.
I always thought you had to change them out but he said the PU models and gas are the same, Just FJ 40 diesels B are different???

Input shaft is different between 6 cyl engines and 4 cylinder engine.

Thought I would update it

I installed this trani
Worked and sounded fine
Only problem was 1st was bull low
I could pull a tree stump out in four low

Was like owning a 3 speed still
Not my idea of an upgrade with 31" tires at the time

Changed it out for a normal 41

I have had it sitting in the shop for years

Anyone need a trani like this I will crate it up and ship it to Florida or California

Open to offers as it isn't doing any good in a crate in the corner

Figured someone here might use it

I was trying to figure out this weird transmission I still have sitting here after over a decade.
I think I will pull it out or the crate today and clean it up. It appears to be some weird transmission.

Possible it's the 9/72-9/73 four speed. Believe it was used in the HJ45 prior to 9/73. Was also used in other Toyota Trucks. Tail shaft would be different on 2WD. If you weren't in Costa Rica I would be interested.
