My 2000 started ticking this past year. No funds to fix right now....

Whhat is the latest on ordering these headers. I need a set soon as possible

They are building another run right now about 2-3 weeks out. $600.00

I just called and gave my info and cc info. When they are ready they will call me, charge my card and ship.

Here is the info, so you don't have to hunt for it.

I started hearing the knock/tick this week. It's still above 70F here so I am pretty sure it's not a cold start issue. Also, I use the special -20004 filter which keeps the oil primed at start up.

I probably missed this somewhere... What has DT improved on their headers above Mr. T to keep them failing/cracking overtime?

My priority is reliability over performance.

My 99 still has not shown a header cracking problem after 13+ years of use. (knocking on wood:bang:)
And I don't recall seeing any 98-99 MY's on here with cracked/ticking headers.

I am just curious if most of the cracked headers are occuring more to the 2000+ year models?

If you have a 98 or 99 with the cracked headers, post up.

Thanks

DT has oober thick flanges... Toyotas flanges a totally different design... with the part that holds the exhaust inside being only like a sixteenth thick..

I, too, just called Nick and got in on this buy. I have had the ticking/fluttering for a few months, smelled gas/fumes while wheeling at slow speeds...and figured out what the problem is, on my 13 year old LC. He said it would be a couple of weeks before they are done and ready to ship.

So, I am installing my DT headers and cat back this weekend, and here is some factory exhaust manifold carnage.

The crack goes around between 1/3 to 1/2 of the way around from the perpendicular initial crack. I was wondering why the ticking was getting worse. My own high flow exhaust mod;)

This is the PS, we shall see if the DS is any better/worse.

Before installing the new exhaust, did any of you start to hear an exhaust noise coming from the middle row PS seat?

I climbed under the truck this morning when I was leak checking the PS install, don't hear any leaks right now.

PS is on with new O2 sensors, actually easier to tighten everything down that it was to break the initial torque on the manifold nuts. Only had 4 studs back out.

Monday the driver side headers and O2 sensors go on along with the exhaust.:bounce:

i'd really like to order these but am patiently waiting to see EMS's finish date and dyno results.. i wish they would hurry up, my money is burning a hole in my pocket and my stock headers are burning a pain in my butt. tick tick tick tick tick tick tick.. the noise won't stop!!

I'm guessing you'll be waiting awhile for EMS's header dyno results. There's a good deal on a set of DT's in the classifieds. I hoping one of you will buy them so I don't have to! The wife already told me no more until next year, that was before the catback and some touch -up paint. I'm pushing it already.:p

Just had my DT headers installed and my LC is running like a champ again! Upon inspection of my old ones, they were indeed, one of the flanges was badly cracked. Thanks to everyone who put this thread together to help me diagnose the problem and solve it effeciently!
