Any FJ80 guys got any recomendations for what to use instead of the studs at that connect the water pump to the block. In my replacing of my water pump my studs have gotten messed up. I am to the point of putting everything back together but need bolts or replacement studs.

Pull one of the studs out, go to a bolt shop and match them up.

Or go to your local Toyota dealer and get new studs.

 Duct tape?

Seriously, there's nothing else you'll want to use but the right studs.

Nobody local has the parts so I will be ordering them. Yay me.

Okay so I've just been told that the studs have been discontinued does anybody know the replacement part number or if there is one? The old part number was 90116-10142.

Thank you for the help and 11 really? Is this some super secret stud that nobody is supposed to have?

How did this turn out? I just stepped in it by emailing @beno about these and of course found this AFTER. Well I found them and paid for them. The wait begins.o_O

I used 90116-10143 for the water pump studs. So this is what they look like compared to what probably is the stock studs. Thread size is correct. Did anybody use these studs? Took them in the shop and at a glance they seem much to shallow. Just curious. Thanks

Them look like fan studs. Length is going to be really close I believe. Make sure your grabbing at least 2-3 threads with the nuts you use. And loctite

I just re-used the existing hardware. Your old studs look like they'd clean up okay, no?

Yeah I soaked the hell out of them but the heads are still frozen. Put them on a vice and couldn't break them so I thought what the hell and ordered some shiny new ones. Probably torch time for the originals combined with my best effort, and also finding some matching through bolts as a back up plan.

They sure do. Same basic config but larger. This application is for the pump to block. They are the correct thread. Just stubby. I think I could get a few revolutions on the stud but I doubt I could get the top of the stud flush with the top of the nut (edit) which is where Id like to see it. Im at work so it's just conjecture. Loctite is a good idea and would make me feel better about using them so thanks.

can you give me a measurement for this distance? I might be able to find something that will work.

In case you need it, its a M10x1.25 thread
I'm guessing the length above is in the neighborhood of 50mm(2")
There are not a lot of M10 studs still in production with similar dimensions to the 90116-10142 part.

Hey thank you! That is very kind that you are looking into it. I took one with me to work, and the one I took is the one with the nut closer to the end of the stud. The one above that longer bolt. End of stud measured to the top of the nut is 48mm. Funny how they are all a little different but that's the way they came out. Thanks a bunch for the thread size!

In all reality a cap screw should work if you can find it with the correct threads.
But its not a big deal to see if something else is available.
The threads on the short end are only 12mm in length and that is the tough part.
My thought is to find something longer that can be trimmed to size. I'll post whatever I find that is useful

No worries man. Ill see if I can trim something to size. Ill mark the end at 12mm or so, so I don't force it any further than it should go in the block. I could create a stud albeit it will have threads throughout its length. Or I can try to make the ones I bought work or at least give them a try. Ill get it torqued down some how. Thanks again partner.

So what are you doing for the pump itself? OEM is discontinued, no?
Aisin. Found one on Rock Auto. Still have the OEM core. Some day Ill look into the possibility of getting it rebuilt I dunno. But the OEM is functional. Bearings were wearing out. No noise but a lot of play and I noticed a single drip of coolant on a belt below it. So it could be used as an emergency spare.
