Did you fab the brackets yourself, or have that done?

I bought the factory oem brackets for the 90amp alternator.

I misunderstood. Thx 4 clarifying.

Plug and Play

The 90 amp units are available at around $50-$80 used and there are plenty of them. Search car-part.com. It's one of the best parts sources out there.

Other than the bracket, when upgrading from a 80amp to a 90amp, are there any other changes (i.e. cables or wiring) that are necessary? Or is it plug and play?

BTW, I have confirmed that I have the OE 80amp and I'm pretty sure that its on its way out...its rattling quite a bit and lights are dimming when any accessory is turned on.

Basic plug and play. I already had upgraded cables for peace of mind.

Yes, 80A version is convertible to 160A as well.

The housings from your alternator will be used. No core involved. No bracket change, same pulley will be used.

Don't be deceived! There is no way that you can rewire an alternator that will fit in the same case and double the output current at the same voltage. This is fraud.

If you read their web sites carefully, they do not state that the output of the alternator is 160 amps. All they say is that they have 160 amp diodes. They are misleading you to thinking it means 160A output.

Take a look at the size difference between the 80 amp cruiser alternator and the 150A Sequoia alternator. It is nearly twice as large and it is only 150 amps. This is real. The "rewired" 80A alternator to 160A is bull****.
